Residents and businesses can see how the proposed South Downs national park will affect planning policies in a new leaflet from Lewes District Council.

Although the park may not come into being until about 2008, it has been a consideration for local planners since last December.

The park will now be increasingly taken into account as a consideration in some planning proposals and current and future planning documents.

Information about the proposals and effects of the future park can be found online on the council's web site at www.lewes.gov.uk/coun/planning/natpark.html

It includes details of proposed boundaries, plus the council's reasons for objecting to some of them.

Concerns about the boundaries of the National Park will be one of the issues considered at the public inquiry.

This is due to open at the Assembly Hall, Worthing, on November 10 at 2pm.

The leaflet is available from the end of October.
