A superb second half fight back saw Horsham secure three precious points at Banstead.
The Hornets were lucky to go in only a goal down at half time after a dreadful first half performance.
Banstead led through Graham Knight's 17th minute header from Michael Beale's free-kick but the home side should have been out of sight by half time.
The Hornets improved in the second half and in the 54th minute Simon Ullathorne unleashed a superb 30 yard strike into the top right hand corner.
Richard Davies then hit a post before Lee Carney gave Horsham the lead. The midfielder burst down the left before cutting inside and drilling home at the near post.
Relieved Horsham manager John Maggs said: "We defended dreadfully in the first half but I was pleased with the second half performance."
