The policy on parking adopted by Tesco at its new superstore in Hove shows why stores like these do not belong in town centres (The Argus, September 18).
On my first visit to this store I was stunned by the restrictions on parking.
Park free for the first 1.5 hours if you spend £5 at the store seems fair but overstay your welcome and the next 1.5 hours will cost you £25.
Stay between three and five hours and £50 will be your fine.
What this means is that any customer visiting Hove and shopping at Tesco will only have time to visit Tesco, none of the other traders in neighbouring streets.
Clearly control of parking will be needed but Tesco must realise it is part of a wider trading community in Hove and review this isolationist policy.
