Firefighters raised a few temperatures when they performed a half-Monty strip at a charity fashion show.

The male and female members of East Sussex Fire Brigade stripped off at Lewes Town Hall partly in aid of two brothers killed in a fire at their family home.

More than £1,180 was raised but organisers are hoping to see the figure swell to a total of £1,300 by selling videos of the evening.

Proceeds will go to the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, the Children's Fire and Burns Trust and the Alex and Phil Kent Memorial Fund in conjunction with Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Firefighter Dave Amiet said: "It was a great evening. Everyone got into the spirit of the occasion. All the feedback we've received so far has been positive and hopefully we'll hold another one next year."

Off-duty firefighter Alex, 25, died attempting to rescue Phil as flames tore through their home in Fermor Way, Crowborough, at 2.30am on January 8.

Alex had already fought choking heat and fumes to guide his parents, Richard and Janet, to safety as fire enveloped their detached house.

Realising assistant golf shop manager Phil, 23, was still inside, he re-entered the inferno to find him in a rear bedroom.

However, university graduate Alex, a full-time firefighter based at Crowborough for ten months, was overcome by the blaze.

Alex was brought out by his colleagues first, followed by Phil, but both were pronounced dead from smoke inhalation at the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

The brothers' parents attended Friday night's fund-raiser, with Mr Kent drawing the raffle.

Since the tragedy he has led a crusade with senior fire officials from Kent and Sussex to get domestic sprinklers fitted in homes.

He believes his sons' death could have been prevented had sprinklers been installed at the family home.
