Crawley have completed the signing of former Charlton Athletic striker Charlie MacDonald.

The 22-year-old, who has scored eight goals in seven pre-season matches, has agreed a two-year deal.

MacDonald made a handful of first team appearances at the Valley, scoring one goal in a Premiership match against Newcastle.

Following loan spells at Cheltenham, Torquay and Colchester, MacDonald signed for Conference side Margate last year before finishing the season with Stevenage.

He said "I'm really looking forward to the coming season, Crawley are an ambitious club and I have come here to win trophies. The club is Conference in all but league position and I will be giving my all to get Crawley to that level"

Reds' boss Francis Vines is delighted with his latest recruit. He said: "Charlie made an immediate impression during the pre season training sessions. We have worked hard to negotiate a deal that both parties are happy with and I am convinced that Charlie alongside Joff Vansittart will prove to be a formidable strike partnership for the forthcoming season."

Crawley went down 3-1 in a friendly with Tottenham's youth team at Broadfield last night.

Speculation that one of Spurs' senior summer signings might also get a run out proved unfoudned.

A crowd of 1,873 saw Jim Rodwell score the home goal.

Dean Marney, Jamie Slabber and Marcel McKie scored for the young Spurs side.
