Jason Voros took 5-78 in 19.5 overs for Sussex Second XI to limit Gloucestershire's first innings lead to only 15 in their Championship battle.

The Australian-born pace bowler's haul helped dismiss Gloucestershire for 262 and Sussex went into the final day at Cheltenham College with a lead of 209 having reached 224-7.

Sussex were reduced to 170-7 second time around before 18-year-old debutant Chris Grammar (40) and teenage wicketkeeper Richard Young (20) shared an unbroken stand of 54.

Pace bowler Roger Sillence made early inroads into the Sussex batting and finished the day with 5-34 in 12 overs.

Sillence's haul included the wickets of Bas Zuiderent, caught behind for 49, and Jeremy Green, who was caught at cover for 21.

Neil Turk, top scorer with 55 in the first innings, followed up with 29, Krishna Singh made 17 and Richard Jackson and Chris Nash were both out for single figure scores.

Gloucestershire all rounder Alastair Bressington was earlier bowled by off spinner Nash for 96 as the hosts, resuming on 116-4, were dismissed 20 minutes after lunch.

Bressington hit 15 fours off 165 balls in his vigil of three hours 20 minutes and wicketkeeper Steve Pope had hit 51 from 75 balls, with six fours, when he was caught at the wicket off Voros.

Sussex are chasing their first win for nearly two months and, on a wicket that is increasingly taking spin, Nash got through 17 overs to have 3-72.
