Two men were arrested at a drinkers' hotspot following the launch of a booze ban.
The men were picked up on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in Norfolk Square, Brighton, last night.
A Brighton and Hove City Council ban means anyone drinking in public and acting antisocially could be arrested and fined up to £500.
Sergeant Richard Siggs, in charge of the crackdown police team, said today: "Some drinkers think they can behave any way they like during the month's grace but we are not going to tolerate it."
