Nick Nurse has landed his key Brighton Bears signing of the summer and hinted another giant could be on the way to Sussex.

Bears are set to sign 6ft 9in American Kendrick Warren from London Towers on a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

Warren, 32, averaged 21 points and 9.4 rebounds per game in a sub-standard Towers team last season and has vast international experience.

His move comes a fortnight after Ralph Blalock switched to the Crystal Palace club in controversial circumstances and further stokes up the old rivalry for the 2003-04 campaign.

Warren is known as a commanding centre but Nurse has revealed he plans to use him as a power forward, which means another big man will be on the way to Brighton.

The Bears chief said: "This is a tremendous signing for us. A few years ago when I coached Towers in the Euroleague I felt I had about four players who were genuinely of that calibre and he was one of them.

"He is very big and he is versatile enough to block shots and shoot three-pointers, which is a very good combination.

"He is a consistent 20-and-ten guy and I know he will match up well with the size of European players at the four position."

Nurse expects to re-sign Findon-based youngster Oliver Roche for the new season and is in talks with Bud Johnston.

Errol Seaman is expected to join EBL division one new boys London United.
