The victim of a vicious assault has been asked to come forward after his suspected attackers were arrested.

Police made an appeal for the victim, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, to contact them after he was kicked and punched to the ground in The Steyne, Worthing, at 2.50am on August 1.

CCTV footage led to the arrest of three 18-year-old men from Worthing, who were released on bail.

The victim was white, had a light coloured shirt and was with a young, slim woman with long hair.

PC Russ Akehurst said: "It was a vicious attack. Without CCTV we would not have known that it happened. We appeal for people to come forward to help in this inquiry."

Five minutes earlier, in Union Place, Worthing, a 25-year-old man, walking with two friends suffered an unprovoked attack.

Police believe the two incidents are linked and appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 6070999.
