Mrs J Sinclair (Letters, July 30) was unhappy with the low-flying planes over the seafront on Saturday which arrived, she said, "without any prior warning".
But Worthing's own radio station, Splash FM, broadcast the fact the Red Arrows and other aircraft would visit Worthing over the festival weekend for several days prior to this.
The Argus and other local papers also printed full details, including the times the planes would be arriving.
My family and I were deeply disappointed the Red Arrows were cancelled due to the bad weather. Sadly, I was not in the town on the Saturday in question so I missed out.
Unfortunately, it seems you can't please all of the people all of the time.
Incidentally, Mrs Sinclair, you didn't find out "first hand" what it is like to come under an air attack.
These planes were not firing or bombing. I should know, being caught up in an air raid in May 1943 when 25 German planes bombed Brighton on my way home from school at lunchtime.
Now that was first hand. A little boy in my own class was among those killed.
-Mrs Brenda Street, Worthing
