What on earth is West Sussex County Council up to? Didn't it spend hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money in the lost cause of fighting the Government's proposal to build an unsustainable number of new houses in the county?

So why, on the one hand, spend our hard-earned money fighting the housing plans while, on the other, throw a tantrum when the Government effectively puts an end to the plan by throwing out the various A27 road schemes?

West Sussex deserves better than this muddled-thinking, spendthrift council. And it's time to put an end to the years of having to dig deeper and deeper into our pockets to fund the council's follies.

Regarding the A27 and follies, we all know about the traffic grief in the Arundel area so what does the council do to ameliorate the problem? It spends more than £100,000 at Crossbush moving the signage and painting the road.

This has led to road rage as drivers force their way into the correct lane at the last possible moment before the traffic lights.

Such a shame when all that money could have been spent replacing the pedestrian crossing near the station with a tunnel, thus smoothing the traffic flow.

What this county needs is a council which is in touch with the real world.
