A film-maker is casting his net for actors to star in his Brighton-based supernatural story.

Daniel Cox, 27, of Marine Parade, Kemp Town, wants to lend his own experience of the five years he has lived in Brighton to his latest project.

And he wants people who live and work in the city to help him breathe life into his creation, which will eventually become a photo-story comic.

He will film all the scenes and then take out stills.

Dan, who has a background in short film-making and script writing, said: "I want to get rid of that posed male model look. That way the actors feel less awkward and it looks more natural."

The story is a supernatural sci-fi set in today's Brighton.

Dan said: "It is Human Traffic meets Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

"What attracted me was the fact that this has not really been done much before. It's about sex, drugs, music and dole cheques.

"A group of Brighton kids spend a summer battling comedowns, high rents and McJobs, all the time avoiding the dreaded question 'What am I doing with my life?'

"I want local people because it is set in Brighton.

"There will be various landmarks in the story, such as the beach and the Pavilion, but there will also be the back streets and lanes that don't usually get shown."

Dan first started reading adult sci-fi comic 2000AD at the age of five and was instantly hooked on the genre.

He is searching for suitable people for specific roles as well as lots of extras for the party scene at the end.

Everyone is welcome to apply for a role.
