Thanks to Mr Llewellyn for pointing out the spelling mistake on the sign at Elvin Crescent in Rottingdean (Letters, July 26).

The council was aware of it and has ordered a new sign. However, Mr Llewellyn is wrong when he says it is a waste of taxpayers' money.

The error was caused during the manufacture of the sign and the company will bear the cost.

Perhaps we could also put it in touch with the council's literacy team.

-Coun Gill Mitchell, chairwoman, environment committee, Brighton and Hove City Council
