Peter Moores is demanding a big improvement in the attitude and commitment of his players after Sussex slumped to their second Championship defeat in three games.

They were bowled out for 106, the lowest total by any side this season, against Warwickshire to lose by 234 runs and extend their winless sequence at Edgbaston into a 22nd year.

The Sussex coach said: "We can't have any complaints, we got what we deserved.

"They put more into the game than us and that's what really hurts, there is a lot more that our guys could have done."

Moores will hold an inquest with the squad at Hove tomorrow but says the players must come up with their own answers to the county's poor start to their first division campaign.

"My only hope is that this defeat doesn't mask any of the things that we have to sort out," he said.

"The players have got to come up with some answers as to how they are going to perform at a level and with a commitment which is acceptable to Sussex day in, day out. The motivation to do that has got to come from themselves.

"They shouldn't look anywhere else for the answers apart from inside themselves.

"Hopefully they will all come up with the same one which involves being honest, committed and prepared to give it all to win. If they do that then we've got half a chance."

Only Tony Cottey showed any resolve yesterday before he was ninth out for 55 in an innings which lasted 43 overs. Earlier Mel Betts had taken 5-43 and Dougie Brown 4-17 after Warwickshire had declared their second innings on 285-7 and set Sussex 341 to win in 55 overs.

"What is disappointing is that we fought hard on Sunday to get ourselves back in the game and then we bowled poorly again and let them get away," added Moores.

"This has been hovering for the last couple of games. We've known we're not quite right even though occasionally we have produced some really good individual performances. But individuals don't make you win or lose, it's the team effort which you have to get right."

Chris Adams, James Kirtley, Mushtaq Ahmed and Murray Goodwin are likely to be rested for the four-day tour match against Zimbabwe which starts on Thursday.
