The front-page offer of a free prayer mat to be placed on the floor facing Grimsby and knelt on while praying for the Seagulls to stay up in the first division (The Argus, May 3) filled me with foreboding.

The British establishment and Government seem to have decided we are no longer a Christian nation and, instead, multi-religious.

It may be irrational to many, but I have the feeling the British were doing better when evangelising throughout the world, especially as today's non-United Kingdom may soon be enslaved in a very undemocratic and apostatic European Union.
