Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas makes a rare visit to Brighton with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra to perform My Father Knew Charles Ives.

This major new work by John Adams is part of a ten-year commissioning project with the composer, who was once its composer-in-residence.

The piece is set in three movements and, because it was only completed in March this year and came in longer than envisaged, has necessitated a change to the full programme as detailed in the Festival brochure.

Instead of Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony, the concert will end with Tchaikovsky's Suite No 3. Stravinsky's Violin Concerto will go ahead with soloist Hilary Waugh as planned.

Tickets £27.50 to £6. Call 01273 709709.
