Hove under-17s won the top foreign team trophy at the Marseille Provence International tournament in France.

Twelve teams were invited including regional French teams, featuring champions, Racing Club de Paris.

Hove, plus Oxford RFC, Riga (Estonia), Zimbrii Bucharest (Romania) and Dinamo de Bucharest (Romania) made up the foreign contingent, Representatives from South Africa and Italy, who were due to compete, were unable to attend.

Hove qualified for the last four in second place with four wins in five matches and conceded only three points.

They were pipped 8-6 in the semi-final by Racing Club with Harry Woolley scoring their points with two penalties.

Hove, captained by Tom Le Mehaute, were given third place after a 0-0 draw in the play off for third and fourth places because their points difference of 54 was superior to their Romanian opponents.

Meanwhile, ove won three of the six age groups at the Worthing Junior Sevens. Their under-18s were unbeaten in a round robin and the under-16s pipped Effingham and Leatherhead 15-14 in their final after beating Gosport and Fareham, Horsham, Bognor and Haywards Heath. The under-13s completed the hat-trick.

Hove under-17s (against Horsham) and under-14s lost their finals.

Hove have had their presenation night.

Incoming captain Gareth Coe presented outgoing captain Sam Wallis with the captain's award.
