Invitation League: Lindfield skipper Graham Page is refusing to get carried away after his side made the perfect start to their division one campaign.

They picked up a maximum 30 points after a three-wicket win at last season's runners-up Pagham.

The visitors skittled out the nine-man home side for 95 before posting 96-7 in 27 overs.

Dave Galey (46) impressed with the bat for Pagham, who were without captain Craig Primmer, but it was only enough to pick up three league points.

Page said: "It was a bit of a surprising result but it is a great way to start the season.

"We knew it was going to be tough because we were missing a few players but they were as well, including their captain, so it evened things up a bit.

"We are hoping to finish as high as possible in the league, but I'm not sure if we can be called contenders just yet."

Arundel had to settle for a draw and ten points at home to division one newcomers Broadwater.

After winning the toss, the home side made 191-8, thanks to the highest knock of the day, 77 by Richard Thompson. Joe Middleton (4-35) was the main wicket-taker for the visitors. Broadwater then posted 86-4 in 42 overs and make an encouraging, if slowstart, after being promoted as runners-up last year.

Burgess Hill are the surprise early leaders after a four-wicket victory over another promoted team, Goring.

Last season's division two champions made 133, thanks to a 44 from Paul Davis, who went on to impress with the ball by claiming 4-28.

It was not enough to stop Burgess Hill running up 135-6 to claim maximum points, with John Atkins pulling and cutting his way to 54.

Impressive batting by Andy Wilkinson (56) and Gareth Challen (46) could not prevent Clymping going down to a three-wicket defeat at home to Ifield. The hosts managed 157, but 43 by Musawer helped the visitors to 161-7 and 25 points.
