Bobby Zamora has backed Albion to recover from relegation, with or without him.

The Seagulls are in the Second Division again next season following Stoke's 1-0 home win against Reading yesterday, which made the 2-2 draw at Grimsby immaterial.

Goal king Zamora, who is expected to be playing in the Premiership by then, said: "Of course we are capable of bouncing back.

"We won championships in the last two seasons. This season has been a bit of a slip-up.

"Since December I think our performances have been second to none.

"You cannot play all these games in Division One and not learn. It's been a valuable experience.

"It has been an extraordinary effort from where we were, but obviously it is still disappointing to drop out.

"The whole club is special and the fans were unbelievable again."

Zamora, who equalised from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, is still non-commital about his future.

"You'll have to ask the chairman," he said. "If an offer comes along which he can't resist then that is that.

"If the club wants to keep me here then that's that. I don't really have much say do I? It's hard, but I've got a contract and that's football."

The future of boss Steve Coppell is also in doubt. His one-year contract runs out in October and he refused to speak to the Press after yesterday's stalemate at Blundell Park.

Captain Danny Cullip, Albion's other goalscorer, revealed: "He said in the dressing room afterwards 'Keep your heads up, you have done well. You should be proud of yourselves, taking it to the last day after the position you were in.'

"I think we are capable of bouncing back. We have got a good nucleus. Hopefully we can add to it, then who knows?

"We worked very hard to get where we are, but we gave it a good go.

"You can't expect other teams to do you any favours, you have got to do it yourselves.

"You make your own luck. We haven't had an abundance of luck this season, but that's life."
