I first started reading the Evening Argus in 1955, when it cost about 4p in real money, and have read it almost every day since.

My two sons' first introduction to earning their own money was having a paper delivery round, so I feel the paper is part of our family.

I am a member of the Eastbourne Beekeepers' Association.

Beekeeping in general is in decline and we are trying to encourage people to take up this very interesting hobby.

Encouragingly, our workshop for beginners or persons interested in keeping bees, to be held on Saturday, May 10, at St Wilfrids Hall, Broad Road, Willingdon, is fully subscribed.

However, you can still receive information and details about becoming a beekeeper by calling 01323 423296 or 490345.

The East Sussex Beekeepers' Association will be holding its 29th Annual Bee Market at Plumpton Agricultural College on Sunday, May 18, from 10am to 5pm.

For information, call 01323 846987.
