Derren Brown has become a TV sensation. His Channel 4 specials have received mass attention as he amazes the nation with his particular brand of mind control.

After graduating from Bristol University, Derren forged a living from performances in cafs and bars. He got his break with a series on Channel 4 in 1999 and now returns to the live circuit.

His television series and stage performances demonstrate his unique and bizarre skills.

He claims no psychic powers but places the focus on his ability to observe psychological patterns in people's behaviour.

This allows him to place thoughts into people's minds or read thoughts as if they were his own.

His mental powers seem to be working as the nation is gripped by his screen series. His tricks bedazzle people into doing or thinking whatever he wishes.

In the tradition of David Blaine and Paul McKenna before him, his audiences gather to discuss how his tricks work and then marvel at them.

He is an entertainer reliant on audience participation and these performances have served to heighten the controversy that surrounds him. He performs his tricks without the security of a television crew.

This mounting success has given Derren increasing creative freedom. He is recording a new TV series, setting up a web site with interactive examples of mind control and has recited poetry over a musical track for The Palers' Project, a band that call themselves fans of Procol Harum.

Derren's career seems to be propelling non-stop along a path as twisted as his outrageous tricks.

His performance at the Worthing Pavilion promises to be quite a spectacle.
