I fail to see the advantage of parents letting their offspring demonstrate against the war in Iraq.

It only encourages them to take part in civil disturbances.

It certainly will not make the tyrant Saddam Hussein give himself up for the terrible crimes he has committed against his own people.

Unfortunately, war is the only weapon that will destroy the dictator.

It would be far more beneficial to society if these children were to demonstrate with their placards against attacks on hospital nurses and defenceless pensioners, road rage and the taking of drugs that destroy the mind and body.

By the way, replying to Gerald Spicer ("Plane music", Letters, March 26), who stated that aircraft noise is music to the ears, I am truly glad I am on the same side as the aircrew of the massive American B-52 flying machines.
