Stewart Holmes' dramatic late winner helped Crawley complete the double over FA Trophy semi-finalists Havant & Waterlooville with a 2-1 success at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday.

Holmes popped up with seven minutes left to convert Neil Le Bihan's cross for his eighth goal of the season, leaving assistant manager Vic Bettinelli delighted.

He said: "It was nice for Stewart because he's a strong runner and goes forward and got us the vital goal.

"We went one down from a set-piece against a side in the FA Trophy semi-finals next week and, considering the injuries we've had recently, it's great to get the win."

Reds welcomed back Warren Bagnall after injury and he partnered Danny Hockton up front and it was Hockton who came closest to opening the scoring early on.

Ernie Cooksey's pass played him in on ten minutes but an offside flag ruled his effort out. Two minutes later, Hockton was presented with another chance but he fired over from a yard.

A minute later, Crawley's dominance was nearly capped when Cooksey smashed a header against the post from a cross by Nigel Brake.

However, against the run of play, the visitors took a 24th-minute lead when Brett Poate's corner reached Alec Masson and he fired in via deflections off Marc Pullan and then Holmes.

Reds should have drawn level by half-time but their best chance saw Le Bihan volley well over following a poor punch from Kerr.

The home side finally equalised in the 53rd minute.

Central defender Ellis Hooper showed the strikers how it was done as he rolled the ball past Kerr to register his first home goal.

Crawley laid siege to the visitors' goal until Le Bihan's foray into the box provided Holmes the opening to secure a second successive win.
