It was with his trademark sneer that Councillor Simon Battle (Letters, February 3) derided my calling into question Brighton and Hove City Council's sustainability credentials because, among other things, it intends to be party to building a huge carpark at Shoreham Airport.
Yet, on March 25, The Argus reported just such plans and residents for many miles to the east and west of the airport have the prospect of noise and pollution from low-flying jets.
As I discuss the local election with residents, I find this is proving a hot issue.
Now, there are many upon Brighton and Hove City Council with whom one can have a reasonable and entertaining talk but it would be a rash spirit who gave Coun Battle the time of day, for, as is widely known, his attitude is encapsulated in the remark that if residents do not like his plans "they can always move".
