So, once again, a Conservative councillor echoes what the rest of us have been saying for years ("Dire legacy", Letters, March 8).

I refer to Averil Older's dreary letter in which she basically says the current Brighton and Hove City Council should give way or be voted out because of its inability to represent its electorate.

What's new? The main reason people want rid of the lot of you is because we have been lied to for so long we no longer feel as if we have a choice to make.

I, too, am listening to you repeating, parrot-fashion, what we say in some vain attempt to make us believe you will do what you say when, in fact, as history continually proves, you will blame your predecessors and continue the lies and deceit.

England's oak is being strangled by America's ivy. If you think you will walk in and America will leave, you are deluded.

I think you all need a long holiday so we can get our affairs back in order. Then, if we let you back in, it will be on our terms. Until then, I wouldn't buy bread from any of you.
