Residents of Worthing could lose their right to vote if they do not register their new addresses.

If someone has moved since October 15, 2002, they must complete a voter registration form for their new address.

This will make a person eligible to take part in Worthing Borough Council's local elections on May 1.

The deadline to fill out a form is March 11 and those moving after that date will only be able to vote using their previous address.

If a person is unable to return to their old polling station to vote, postal vote applications are available from the Election Office, Town Hall, Worthing, BN11 1HA or by calling 01903 239999 ext 1014. Voter registration forms are also available from this address.

Meanwhile, Worthing Borough Council has released important dates for the coming local elections in May.

There is a vacancy in each of the borough's 12 wards where existing councillors have reached the end of their term of office.

The seats currently up for re-election are held by six Conservatives and six Liberal Democrats. The Lib Dems took control of the council at last May's election by winning 19 seats to 17.

The last day to return nomination forms is on April 1, by noon. Any cancellations or amendments to existing postal or proxy votes must be made by 5pm on April 11.

The first issue of postal votes will be sent out on April 22.

The deadline for receipt of postal and proxy vote applications is 5pm on April 23 and the last day to send a postal vote is April 24.

Polling day will be on May 1, from 8am to 9pm.
