Eastbourne Town maintained their fourteen point lead at the top of County League division one with a 4-2 victory over Broadbridge Heath at the Saffrons.

Goals from Yemi Odubade (two), Lee Walsh and Nick Barden secured Town's twentieth win of the campaign Heath replied through young substitute Matt Canavan and a late penalty.

Second-placed East Grinstead bounced back after conceding a first-minute goal to beat bogey side Steyning Town 3-1.

James Hannah put the visitors ahead but second-half goals from Matt Thorpe (two) and Steve Banks earned Grinstead maximum points.

Manager Bobby Smith said: "They have stuffed us three times this year and when that goal went in I thought, 'Here we go again.' But it was always a case of once we scored we would get another."

Victory leaves Wasps ten points clear of fourth-placed Saltdean.

Fifth-placed Oakwood had an impressive 3-1 win at Seaford.

Tom Callaghan gave the hosts a fifth-minute lead with his tenth goal of the season but Oakwood hit back through Zak Newman (two) and Gerard Manville.

Adam Kneller was sent off for Seaford, who had Dean Lightwood making his debut in goal after joining on loan from Eastbourne Borough.

Lancing slipped to sixth spot after twice being pegged back in a 2-2 draw with Westfield.

All the goals came in the last 20 minutes with Jamie Cole and Glen Souter twice putting the home side ahead, only for Duncan Jones and Darrol Parris to hit equalisers.

Lancing boss Andy Gander said: "That ends our promotion push. I have resigned myself to Eastbourne Town, East Grinstead and Rye going up now."

Eastbourne United moved further away from the relegation zone with a 3-2 win over bottom side Oving.

United led 3-0 by the 56th minute despite having Andy Atkin sent off for violent conduct midway through the first half.

Scott McDonald (two) and Steve Prodger were the scorers but replies from Neil Barratt and Callum Britton ensured a tense finish.

A meeting takes place tomorrow night which is expected to confirm Eastbourne United's merger with Shinewater Association.

That would ensure a relegation reprieve for one team, most probably Pease Pottage, who drew 1-1 with Shinewater on Saturday.

Lee May put Pottage ahead on 63 minutes only for Shine player-boss Tobi Hutchinson to level 12 minutes later. Pottage striker Scott Christensen had an effort controversially disallowed on the stroke of full time.

Crawley Down and Mile Oak both had a player sent off as they drew 1-1.

Down goalscorer Darren Tidey received a second yellow card for a tackle which Ryan Sargent reacted to and saw red. Scott Carden hit an 86th-minute equaliser for the visitors.

Neil Richardson scored the only goal on 64 minutes as Worthing United beat Wealden.

Richardson, Andy Preddy and player-boss John Dutton had further chances but Worthing had to settle a single goal.
