Rather than being preoccupied with the West Pier, which had been failing commercially for decades until its closure in 1975, I suggest the Noble Organisation is looking to its own business future and that alone - as it should, being a business.
There were many years of inactivity and dithering before Noble's intervention with the West Pier plans.
Take a look at Blackpool. Each of its three piers - Victoria, South Jetty and The Blackpool - have changed names to, respectively, South, Central and North.
Look at the wealth of rides and attractions on each. Look at the metamorphosis going on in that tourist resort with a united ambition from all involved.
The new rides on Brighton's Palace Pier are needed for it to stay ahead and compete with the amusement parks in the South East.
This is to Brighton and Hove's benefit and the continued investment Noble is making should be applauded and supported for the sake of the city's image and economy.
