Albion are signing Tony Rougier from Reading on a month's loan to solve a striker shortage.
The Trinidad and Tobago international is expected to make his debut in Saturday's home game against Millwall.
Boss Steve Coppell has moved for Rougier as Gary Hart begins a four-match suspension against Milwall and Bobby Zamora is banned for the trip to Gillingham on March 1.
Rougier, 31, began his career in Scotland with Raith Rovers and Hibernian.
He played under former Albion boss Brian Horton at Port Vale before helping Reading to promotion from the Second Division last season as runners-up behind the Seagulls.
Reading went third in the table with a 3-1 win at Sheffield United, but Rougier has struggled to command a regular role in the face of fierce competition for forward places at the Madejski Stadium.
