Albion defender Paul Watson can depend on parental support tomorrow, even though dad Dave is a lifelong Wolves fan.

He will be at Withdean to cheer his son on against play-off chasing Wanderers.

Watson revealed: "He comes to every home game and a few of the away games as well. I couldn't tell you why he supports Wolves, I can't even make up a good excuse for him!

"He will be sitting with the rest of the family, in the Brighton section of course. I am his son after all and he supports me who ever we are playing against."

The spoils were shared when the sides met at Molineux three months ago. The rock-bottom Seagulls produced one of their best displays of the season in a 1-1 draw in front of the Sky TV cameras.

"My dad would rather we had won 4-3 but it was a good game," Watson said.

"The lads played well that night. It was the start of things looking up for us a bit. We changed the formation that night and it has been working well since then. Hopefully we can play that well again but win 2-1 this time."

Albion desperately need a first home victory since November 2 to enhance their hopes in what Watson accepts has become a four-way battle for the three relegation places. Grimsby and Stoke face each other in a six-pointer at Blundell Park tomorrow, while the Seagulls go there on the final day.

"In the last couple of years we hardly lost a match at Withdean but this year it has gone the other way," said Watson. "It is up to us to put that right, starting on Saturday.

"I don't think we can drag Walsall and Bradford into it now. We have got to worry about Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke and Grimsby and we don't want to go there at the end still needing three points. We have to do all our work before that."

Watson's fellow wingback Nathan Jones and Charlie Oatway face late checks on ankle injuries.

Richard Carpenter has recovered from the knee problem that kept him out of Tuesday's 3-2 defeat by Wimbledon and Ben Roberts will be back in goal at the expense of Dave Beasant after recovering from gastric flu.

Roberts, whose month on loan from Charlton expires following the trip to Bradford a week tomorrow, said: "I was laid up for about ten days. I felt it coming on the week after the Portsmouth game.

"I lost about 13 pounds but I've put half a stone back on now and I've started eating and drinking again. I've had a good week of training and feel nice and strong."

Midfielder Geoff Pitcher has joined Conference club Farnborough on a month's loan.
