People walking along Queens Road in Brighton will be confused to find it has two eastern sides, says Mr Dennis Catherall, from Brighton.

"Or so it does according to the centre pages of The Argus Extra on Wednesday last week," he explains, referring to the caption underneath an aerial picture of the city centre.

This said: "The eastern side was spoilt in the Sixties with ugly offices but the eastern side and its raised pavements are largely intact."

"Never mind," says Mr Catherall, "the picture itself was a very fine effort by photographer Denny Rowland." Thanks.

An anonymous gentleman caller says our geography was also a bit out on Tuesday last week when we said Widdicombe Way was in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, when in fact it is in High Bevendean.

Equally confusing were our monthly stars for February published last Friday which showed the same dates for both Aquarius and Pisces. Thanks to "Mike" who spotted that one.

Readers of some editions that same day may also have been confused by page 5, which didn't tally with some of the story turns from page 1. This was due to technical problems for which I am sorry.

We failed completely with our coverage (or rather our lack of it) of the National Badminton Finals held at the Triangle Centre in Burgess Hill last weekend.

The event is the biggest in the sport's calendar apart from the All-England Championships but didn't make a line in The Argus.

"I looked forward eagerly to news and results as, due to work commitments, I was unable to attend," says "A keen player", from Peacehaven.

"I was convinced that one of the best local papers in the country would report on such a prestigious event but I guess it was not important enough - your sports pages are full of football, racing (horses and dogs), snooker and American sports (basketball and American football).

"This is the third time this event has been staged in Burgess Hill - have you ever covered it? Maybe next year eh?"

He adds: "Our copy of The Argus was not delivered on Saturday - perhaps the delivery lad was watching the badminton."

I am truly sorry for this oversight by our sports team, keen player, and promise you we will be there next year.

The Argus weatherman Ken Woodhams, from Hove, tells me we got two things wrong in our report on Tuesday about his analysis of January's weather.

Firstly, we said the average temperature was 0.7C (33F) when it should have said 4.6C (40.4F) and, secondly, the total rainfall was not 4.8mm, as we said, but 84.2mm.

Many thanks, Ken, and our apologies for the mistakes.

Finally, something we did get right was the story about Libby Hubbard's pet dog Bertie. On December 6, we told how the pedigree black Labrador had been stolen by dog-knappers from her back garden near Ashdown Forest and she wanted to warn other potential victims.

"How grateful I was," says Libby. "It didn't get our dog back but it was a brilliant article by Lynn Daly and got us loads of coverage elsewhere, including on BBC1's Inside Out next week. Thanks, The Argus!"

Thanks to you, Libby, although I am sorry it didn't bring back Bertie.
