A woman from Cross-in-hand who suffered horrific injuries in a car crash has been awarded £1.2 million.
Clare Trollope-Davis, 28, of Warren Lane, Cross in Hand, Heathfield, was a passenger in a car which sped off the road and hit an earth bank more than eight years ago.
The crash almost killed her and her life has been blighted by the serious head injuries she sustained. She will be disabled for life.
James Dingemans QC, acting for Miss Trollope-Davis, told London's High Court: "Clare suffered very serious injuries and has not worked since the accident and will never work in the future."
She sued the car's driver, David Tradewell, of Enys Road, Eastbourne, whose motor insurers yesterday agreed to settle her case for £1.2 million on the basis of 75 per cent liability.
The 25 per cent reduction was due to the fact that Miss Trollope-Davis was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened at Lim's Green, near Waldron, which is near Heathfield, on June 12, 1994.
