Last year, I planted a friend's garden with geraniums. Reluctantly, we had to remove them in December.

As we did, we found daffodils well grown on Christmas Eve.

I visited my friend and, on my way in, picked my first daffodil. He was amazed. He is aged 100 and said he had never seen this in his lifetime.

He also remarked that the birds sing at midnight but the dustmen are still late.
