Local charities would be all the poorer without the efforts of Worthing Golf Club.
It is the biggest club in Sussex with 1,000 members and they know how to dig deep.
The am-am charity golf day raised £9,000 which has gone to the Marie Curie Cancer Care and that sort of money has been forthcoming in each of the last four years. And that is not all.
The ladies' and men's sections have contributed £13,000 and £15,000 respectively for good causes so it is no wonder that Ian Evans, the club secretary, applauded the generosity of members.
"We are very fortunate in having such fantastic members."
Thirty-eight teams of four competed in the latest event when the rule was that one had to be a guest from another club.
The winners were Nick Potkins, Steve Godley, David Williams, plus Chris Amey from East Brighton.
The best two scores counted and they carded 116 on the Upper Course and 120 on the Lower.
The prizes were presented by club captain Mike Hollywood and he also handed the big cheque to Lyn Hawkins of the Marie Curie Cancer Care.
