Boxing returns to Hastings Pier for the first time in nearly 20 years tomorrow night when West Hill ABC hold their annual show.

The council banned the sport from their venues but with the pier back in private hands West Hill have returned to their favourite venue.

West Hill matchmaker Dean Brooker said: "We are hoping we can make this a regular venue again."

More than 300 tickets have been sold for the show which has boxers matched from all across the county but also from as far away as Yorkshire.

West Hill have ten from their gym matched on the night with juniors Alfie Chapman, Shaun Challinor, Jason Brooker, Conroy Gaynor, Bruce Lawson, Luke Sams, Shaun Attrell and Dennis Buchanan all set to appear.

In the seniors, Barry Buchanan (60kg) is up against Waterlooville's Danny Salter while the hosts' Lee Coglan has a rematch with Darren Phillips of Hove ABC in an 81kg contest.

Southwick have Luke Hunt, Marcus Eaton and Aaron Balmer, all matched while James 'Sid' Smith (Seaford), Michael Chilton (Bognor) and Terry Freeman (Atha) are in action. National Schoolboys champion Lenny Ripley (Eltham) takes on Bushey's Miles Shinkwin.

Tickets are £7 for adults, £3 for juniors and senior citizens and the doors open at 7.30pm.
