I hope to raise a little money for a project to build a "Brighton Atlantic" steam locomotive (a class of engine, now extinct, which was built at Brighton railway works).
Southern Steam at Eastbourne: 1948-1950 is a set of six previously unseen photos taken by retired Sussex railwayman Brian Groome.
The set of 6x4in professionally reproduced black and white photos features steam engines at Eastbourne station.
Each set includes full captions, a numbered souvenir sheet signed by the photographer and a nostalgic and highly detailed 8,000-word account of his time working at Southern Region stations and halts in the Fifties.
The run of 100 sets is priced at £3.95 (including postage and packing) and is available only direct from myself at 44 Manor Road, Bexhill, East Sussex TN40 1SN. Cheques should be made out to Buggleskelly Books.
For every set ordered by readers of The Argus, 50p will be donated to the ambitious Bluebell Railway Atlantic Project.
