I've seen people smoking everywhere in Brighton. They throw their used cigarettes on to the street without any hesitation and usually smoke while walking.
I think it's dangerous to do this because our arms naturally swing as we walk.
If somebody walks while smoking, the glowing end of the cigarette might burn something or someone.
In Japan, we had a terrible incident where the cigarette a man was smoking hit a little girl in the eye, which she lost.
No matter how much money he gave her family in compensation, her eye never recovered and she will have to live with this handicap.
Some prefectures in Japan are now taking action against smoking in the street and I hope this will happen in the UK, too. It is not only a matter of safety but also of good manners and respect for others.
