An elderly pedestrian died after an accident involving a car last night.
The woman, 75, from Hailsham, was injured at about 8pm in Western Road, Hailsham, at its junction with Downsview Way.
She was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the Peugeot involved, a 35-year-old man from Hellingly, near Hailsham, escaped uninjured but suffered shock.
Police said the woman would be named after her next-of-kin had been informed.
The driver has not been named by Sussex Police, who operate data protection guidelines.
