Worthing police's US-style raid, complete with armoured stormtroopers wearing bullet-proof vests, on the Quantum Leaf coffee shop in Rowlands Road, Worthing (November 28), was completely unjustified.
Inspector Allan Lowe, in charge of the raid, said: "It is important for public confidence in Worthing that we do take action of this kind."
I would argue this would depend on the nature of the complaint and his intelligence-gathering.
Had the patrons of Quantum Leaf been suspected terrorists or armed robbers, maybe.
However, in this case, a polite knock on the door from a couple of bobbies and a request for co-operation would more than have sufficed.
