An amateur football site is helping teams around the world to record their progress.
The TeamStats site designed by Tom Stanbury, a University of Brighton graduate and keen Sunday league footballer, features more than 200 teams, including ones in the United States, New Zealand, Bosnia and Herzegovina and El Salvador.
Once a team has signed up to the free web site, it can enter match details which are used to generate statistics similar to those produced for professional teams.
As more matches are entered, the statistics become more detailed, building a comprehensive record of the team's progress.
Mr Stanbury initially designed the site, which is being used for the third season, as his final year project while studying for his degree.
He has continued to develop the site since graduating, largely because of the positive response and feedback from teams around the world. It has just been relaunched.
Although he lives and works in London, he still commutes to Brighton every Sunday to play for Station Wanderers (formerly Gingerman FC)
in the Sussex Sunday Football League Junior Division 2.
He said: "This site is different from other amateur football sites because the focus is on individual teams, rather than leagues.
"Any team can sign-up to the site - it doesn't matter how many players it has, how often they play or even how good they are."
Once a team has signed up it has its own dedicated site which can include sections on the team's history, player profiles, a picture gallery and a message board, which can be used for post-match reviews, fixture changes, news and general banter.
Mr Stanbury said:
"Several teams use these forums on a daily basis.
I've noticed a few of them post several messages a day, some containing information of forthcoming matches and others complaining about individual players' performances."
The statistics section enables teams and players to compare themselves with others on the site.
They can find out who are the top scorers, who has won the most man of the match awards, which team has won most matches and which defences have conceded the least goals.
A number of Sussex teams, including Lancing United, Eastbourne Town and Old Brightonians, have registered on the site.
