It's a shoe-staring, heads-down, melancholy, bouncy teenpop kind of week, courtesy of Toploader, Nickelback, Keith James and Rhianna.

TOPLOADER, Brighton Centre, November 22
This Eastbourne collective started life as a group of pals looking for something to do in their sleepy seaside town. And now look at them, kitted out in trendy t-shirts and playing guitars to the stadium sized Brighton Centre by virtue of their own special brand of shoe-staring rock. Starts 7pm, tickets, £17.50. Call 0870 900 9100.

NICKELBACK, Brighton Centre, November 23
These Canadian rockers sold more than four million copies of their latest album Silver Side Up in the US and have gone six times platinum in their native country. The band also spawned the unforgettable and inimitably catchy singles How You Remind Me and Too Bad. They kick off their first UK arena tour in Brighton. The tour coincides with the release of their third single, Never Again. Tickets are £19.50. Call 0870-900-9100.

KEITH JAMES CELEBRATING THE SONGS OF NICK DRAKE, Komedia, Brighton, November 25
Described as the UK's finest interpreter, James bravely attempts to capture the essence and intimacy of the very singular singer from the early Seventies. Although some may find the haunting melancholy of the songwriter a little too much, he was an extraordinary musician whose masterly guitar work and breathy voice was ground-breaking and beautiful. Starts 8.30pm, tickets, £7/£5. Call 01273 647100.

RHIANNA, Po Na Na, Brighton, November 26
The 19-year-old starlet is coming to Brighton to share with us her sensational vocal chords, huge hair and contagious smile before heading off to support Beverly Knight on tour. Her bouncy urban pop echoes styles as diverse as Stevie Wonder, Bjork and Kate Bush and appeals to all sorts simultaneously, balancing interest from Smash Hits and Jools Holland.
