Brighton and Hove City Council's proposals for a controlled Parking zone (CPZ) in Goldsmid look set to gain approval at the next meeting of the environment committee on December 12.
One of the reasons cited for these is that Goldsmid suffers from displaced parking from adjacent zones. By attempting to solve this with a CPZ, the council is simply shifting the problem.
The Hamilton Road area, which borders Goldsmid, would seem to be next in line.
The council has announced similar proposals will be put forward there, presumably after we have experienced the displaced parking from Goldsmid to concentrate our minds.
It is completely wrong to tackle parking in this way, regarding each area as independent of its neighbours.
Nobody in the Hamilton Road area has been consulted about the impact of the Goldsmid scheme, although there is still time to raise objections.
