Sam Corke was the pick of the Sussex competitors as the new British Supermoto Championship got under way at Lydden Hill last weekend.
Corke, from Uckfield, finished 11th in the Super final which rounded off proceedings.
The championship is split into two classes, with the top 16 from the Open class joining up with the top eight from the 450cc class in the Super final.
Corke was the first 450 rider to finish in the final, which was a tremendous achievement in his first attempt at this unique form of motorsport.
Fellow Uckfield racer Andy Denyer was going well until a knee injury curtailed his progress.
Dave Heal, from Heathfield, finished 20th out of an entry of 164 riders in the Open class.
He said: "I was a bit disappointed but everyone else thought I did well."
Peacehaven's Richard Freshwater was 42nd and Gus Robbins, from Hastings, just outside the top 50.
