Be blinded by Cliff's ageless grin, be deafened by Alice Cooper, go couple-spotting at David Gray, or go wig-spotting at David Essex.

CLIFF RICHARD, The Brighton Centre, November 15
With the build-up to Christmas, a name as synonymous with the season as Santa or turkey is back in action. Cliff has shied away from his once mandatory Christmas number one spot since the controversial Millennium Prayer and there have still been no hints that he intends to treat us to another chart-topper this year. It looks as if the winter tour may be his fans' only compensation.

ALICE COOPER: Monsters of Rock, The Brighton Centre, November 17
It may be true that Alice Cooper has opened up a sports bar offering golf, baseball and a barbecue menu (it's the American way!), but with his crazy make-up, witchy hair and devil rock, his heart is clearly as dark as ever. Here he hooks up with fellow monsters Thunder, LA Guns and The Quireboys. Show starts at 6pm, tickets cost £25. Call 0870 900 9100.

DAVID GRAY, The Brighton Centre, November 19
Pinballed from obscurity to stadium rocker almost overnight with his album White Ladder, it has taken four years for David Gray to bring out a second album. The soft, loveable rock is not to everyone's taste but dinner parties all over the country are crying out for more. A sharper edge is promised from support Turin Brakes. Show starts at 7pm, tickets cost £21.50. Call 0870 900 9100.

DAVID ESSEX, Brighton Dome, November 20
The cheeky blue-eyed Londoner has tried his hand at a contrasting mix of jobs since shooting to fame as Jesus in a hit London musical in the Seventies. His is a familiar face from stage, TV, film and record covers but how many were aware Mr Essex is also the victim of conscience and is patron of the Gypsy Council? Show starts at 7.30pm, tickets cost £18 to £20. Call 01273 709709.
