An anti-drugs message by Eastbourne schoolchildren will hit the airwaves as part of a youth radio launch.

Pupils from Bishop Bell School will be among 1,500 children taking part in the second Eastbourne Youth Radio (EYR) 36-hour broadcast, due to go on air later this month.

More than 20 schools and colleges in the town are involved in the event, organised by Tim Sorensen of the Eastbourne Education Business Partnership.

Mr Sorensen said: "One of the aims of EYR is to give young people not just a chance to broadcast but also to have a go at real hard-issues journalism.

"Young people making a hard-hitting programme about drugs aimed at helping other young people steer clear of them, shows what a significant project EYR can be in delivering important messages to the whole of the Eastbourne community."

EYR will be broadcast from studios at Sussex Downs College, Cross Levels Way, Eastbourne, from 7am on November 28. Tune into 87.7FM.
