Ex-Albion striker Scott Ramsay made it six goals in three games after his brace helped Eastbourne Borough to a 3-0 win over Sittingbourne in the eastern division.

However, Priory Lane fans had to suffer some anxious moments before Garry Wilson's men made sure of the three Dr Martens League points.

The lowly Kent side produced a determined second half fightback and struck the woodwork before two Eastbourne goals in the last six minutes shattered their hopes of a point.

Wilson said: "We should really have killed them off by half-time but once we had the second half scare, I thought we responded well."

Borough could easily have gone in at half-time three or four goals to the good such was their dominance.

Instead, they had to be satisfied with Ramsay's decisive finish from John Westcott's low cross in the 22nd minute.

Daren Pearce's weak penalty was saved by keeper Lee Hook on 35 minutes after Ben Taylor had handled in the area.

There were second half scares for Borough but with six minutes remaining, Ramsay's diving header from substitute Andy Ducille's cross made it 2-0.

John Price nodded in a Pearce corner to complete the scoring in the dying stages.

St Leonards remain in relegation trouble despite a battling performance against high-flying Bashley who came from behind to win 2-1 at the Firs.

Peter Baker put the home side in front with a 23rd minute penalty but Matt Jones levelled nine minutes later and Danny Gibbons got the 59th-minute winner.

Saints keeper Peter Newstead kept his side in the game when he saved a 64th-minute penalty from Craig Davis. Baker hit the crossbar late on.
