Clinton More scored a late winner as Selsey twice came from behind to beat Soham Town Rangers 3-2.

The Eastern Counties League side boasted a record of one defeat in their last 15 games but the Sussex visitors deservedly clinched a place in the third round.

Delighted Selsey boss Danny Hinshelwood said: "We didn't know much about them so I went with a 4-3-3 formation and it paid off.

"It is a four-hour journey up there and I had two players pull out on the morning of the game. I went with only two subs plus myself, despite my cruciate knee ligament injury.

"But it gave us that fighting spirit. In the first half we played quite well and in the second half we dominated from start to finish."

Scott Hinshelwood cancelled out Steve Bugg's opener on 25 minutes but Soham regained the lead in first half injury time when Frank Atkins seized on a rare mistake from Selsey keeper Dave Lever.

Jason Reed headed home an equaliser on 71 minutes and More, having already had two good chances, ran through to slot home the winner in the closing stages.

Whitehawk scored twice in the final ten minutes to beat Abingdon Town 2-0 at East Brighton Park.

Dean Venton finally broke the deadlock with a 25 yard free kick which nestled in the bottom corner and Tommy Pattenden added a second with the slightest of touches to a Terry Cooper cross five minutes from time.

Hawks boss Ian Chapman said: "We didn't play well but they didn't have a shot on goal throughout the game.

"Young Craig Bunch came on as substitute at 0-0 and he changed the game for us.

"I am pleased so many sides from Sussex have gone through. It shows that there is a high standard in the county now."

Young Danny McLaughlin was the hero for Arundel, striking the only goal with his trusty left foot as extra-time beckoned at home to Erith Town.

The 6ft 3ins 20-year-old signed last year from East Preston and has always impressed boss Mike Rowland with his neat touch on the ball. There were not too many chances in a dour game but McLaughlin made the difference from 20 yards after a good build-up.

Boss Mike Rowland said: "It was a great goal, especially coming two minutes from time. We ground the result out."

Sidlesham bowed out 5-0 at Lowestoft Town while Withdean's match with St Margaretsbury was postponed.
