PC Colin Clasby, Sussex Police wildlife liaison officer, told me the badger traps removed from Saltdean gardens recently would be locked away and not handed back to Defra until a final solution to the badgers was found.
I have found out the police have handed the traps back to Defra. Is this in advance of a surreptitious night-time swoop on Saltdean while no one is looking?
