An internet-based environmental campaign by Brighton and Hove City Council has won another award for flair and innovation.

The council's ninelives, a reality TV-style campaign on the web, followed nine residents from the city as they switched to a more sustainable lifestyle.

It has just won an award for the city council from PR Week, the publicity industry bible.

In October, ninelives won two prizes at the annual British Environment and Media Awards (BEMAs) for best environmental campaign and best environmental web site.

The Institute of Public Relations has shortlisted the campaign in three more categories for its Cream awards in January.

The ninelives scheme has also won the overall merit award in the New Statesman New Media Awards in October and was shortlisted in the UK E-Well being awards sponsored by BT.

Communications director Tony Miller said: "Councils are often seen as dry and dusty environments but I hope we have shown it doesn't have to be that way.

"Our in-house team has been very creative with ninelives and repeatedly beaten off competition from the most famous names in the industry."
