Rory Jervis is pushing for an outfield place for Lewes after losing his goalkeeper's spot.

Jervis played on pitch last season but was back in goal for the start of the current campaign as regular keeper Marc Wilkinson returned late from South Africa.

With Wilkinson now back, Jervis has been ousted but he scored twice in Wednesday's 5-1 Sussex Cup quarter-final win over Horsham. Carl Wright, Will Champness and Andy Pike also netted.

Skipper Champness said: "He is still deciding what he wants to do but based on the fact that he scored twice this week, we have brought him into the squad playing on pitch."

Lewes face two games this weekend, entertaining Nottingham in National League division one tomorrow before playing host to Hampstead and Westminster in the third round of the HA Cup on Sunday.

German midfielder or forward Johannis Kloess has signed for Lewes and plays for the seconds tomorrow before being added to the squad for Sunday's game. Ryan Ibbotson is out injured and Matt Lloyd is working.

Meanwhile, East Grinstead are away to Indian Gymkhana in the league tomorrow before playing host to Hounslow and Ealing in the cup on Sunday.

They must do without Richard Payne who has decided to retire from first team hockey for the time being. Kevin King is sidelined with a broken finger but Jamie Pearce and Charlie Pine return to action.

Player-coach Ian Pattison steps down on Sunday when John Sullivan, Alex Pizzey and Phil Coote are added to the squad.
